Provincial Superiors’ Meeting in Korea

Greetings from Sangsam-li, Korea, where we are gathered for the 2016 Provincial/Regional Superiors’ Meeting. We have been blessed with beautiful spring weather and the hospitality of our Sisters.

We are deliberating on the theme, Leadership: Crossing the Human – Human Divide. This theme is challenging all of us to consciously acknowledge that we are members of the same body, the body of Christ (1 Cor 12:12) and each member’s contribution to the life of the whole body is important.

We had an opportunity to visit a Buddhist Temple which was a very enriching experience for us, as we practically crossed the Human-Human Divide; in this case, crossing the religious divide. We felt united by our common belief in the higher power who is God himself. We had two meditations guided by a Buddhist Nun and we had a practical lesson of crafting a LOTUS Flower which is a very significant symbol in Buddhism: The LOTUS Flower grows and blossoms in dirty water but remains pure and never gets contaminated. This can be related to scripture, You are in the world but not of the world (John 17:16).

As we step into the Jubilee Year from December 2024 to 2025,
let us invite God the Holy Spirit to enable us to be real pilgrims of Hope
in our communities and among the people we serve.

Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,
and the flame of charity enkindled
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us the blessed hope
for the coming of your Kingdom.

May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from within both humanity
and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.

May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,
a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread
the joy and peace of our Redeemer
throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,
be glory and praise for ever.
